In Loving Memory of Laura Jean Patton

Our First Golden Star

A Legacy of Love, Faith & Service

The Son's Touch Community Service Program is dedicated to the loving memory of Laura Jean Patton, a remarkable woman whose life was defined by faith, compassion, and unwavering service to others.

Laura was truly a beacon of light throughout the Chesapeake Gardens community of Norview. She was known for her selfless heart, gentle spirit, and the genuine love she shared with everyone she encountered. Whether preparing meals for families in need, organizing community events, encouraging a neighbor, or simply offering a listening ear, she believed that every act of kindness was an opportunity to serve God by serving others.

A devoted member of Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, Laura faithfully served in numerous ministries throughout her lifetime. Most notably, she dedicated more than 50 years as a proud member of the John R. Grays Missionaries, where her commitment to ministry, outreach, and helping those in need became a lasting example for generations to follow.

Service was never just something she did—it was who she was. Her life reflected Christ's love through compassion, generosity, humility, and a heart that always placed others before herself. Even until she was called home on January 30, 2025, God continued to work through her as she faithfully answered His call to love and uplift His people.

"Well done, good and faithful servant."
— Matthew 25:23

Laura Jean Patton will forever be remembered as our beloved Golden Star—a cherished mother, faithful missionary sister, community servant, mentor, and beautiful angel whose light continues to shine through the countless lives she touched.

The Son's Touch Community Service Program, now carried forward through the Cloyd Community Foundation, was inspired by the values Laura lived every day: faith, service, compassion, dignity, generosity, and unconditional love. Every meal served, every family supported, every senior encouraged, every youth empowered, and every life uplifted is a reflection of the legacy she leaves behind.

Although she is no longer with us physically, her spirit lives on through our mission and in every act of kindness we extend to our community.

In Loving Tribute

Thank you, Mom, for teaching us that true greatness is found in serving others with love, humility, and compassion. Your life continues to inspire our mission every single day.

You will forever remain our First Golden Star. ⭐
"Her light still shines through every life we touch."
